26 Take Dance Lessons
Ballroom, swing, disco, country-western, folk dancing, tap dancing, jazz -
take your pick. Dance lessons are a great way to meet a mate. In addition, if
you learn ballroom dancing, you'll be gaining an important social skill that
will provide you with hours of fun and take you from wallflower to belle of the
ball in a short period of time. After dance lessons, you won't have to sit and
tap while everyone else dances the night away. When someone asks you to dance,
you'll be able to say, "I'd love to," and mean it.
27 Join A Professional Organization
Most professions have organizations affiliated with them that provide
education, support, and networking. Active involvement in such an organization
is sure to provide you with the opportunity to meet people with common interest.
The best way to get to know people in any organization is to be an officer or
board member or to work on a committee.
28 Attend A Reunion
When you receive an announcement about a reunion, whether it's a grade
school, high school, or college reunion, go. Connect with as many people as you
can, even those you didn't socialize with in school. People change. The class
nerd is probably a CEO of a powerful corporation now, and the studious girl with
the thick glasses may be a glamorous talk show host, so don't limit yourself to
hanging out with your old pals.
29 Do Volunteer Work For A Philanthropic Organization
There are so many organizations that need your help. The Juvenile Diabetes
Foundation, the American Heart Association, the Cancer Society, the Society for
Mental Retardation, are just a few. Besides national organizations, there are
many groups at the local level that are dedicated to helping others.
Volunteering you time, either as a committee member or in some other capacity,
is a sure way to meet new people.
30 Attend Family Get-Togethers
Don't miss family get-togethers because you think it'll just be old Uncle
Charlie and Aunt Mabel or a bunch of little rug-rats. Family get-togethers are
not just for family. Birthday, anniversary, engagement, and graduation
celebrations provide a great opportunity to meet new people.
31 Attend A Wedding
Never miss a wedding if you can possibly help it. As it says on the
invitation, your presence is an honor and your being there will help make the
occasion perfect for the bride and groom. Besides, weddings are such happy
occasions. Once the music starts, everyone is in a party mood.

We all spend a lot of time waiting: at the post office, at the bank, at a
fast food restaurant, at the grocery store, or at the dentist’s office. The next
time you’re waiting in line, use the time to meet someone new instead of wishing
you were somewhere else.
33 Go To The Country Fair, Amusement Park, Or Carnival
When people go to the amusement park or carnival, they trend to become more
open and playful. When they’re having fun riding the bumper cars or playing the
ring toss game, they are more approachable than usual. Whether it’s at a street
fair or a state fair, it’s easy to meet people in a setting where there is so
much activity.
34 Get Involved In A Pretend Murder
In the last several years restaurants and theatres have begun offering what
are called "Murder Mysteries." Audience participation is the key to their
success. The actors set the scene and provide hints too help figure out who
killed whom with what instrument. As audience members search the area for clues,
consult with each other about the evidence they’ve found, and speculate on the
identity of the murderer, they can’t help but get to know one another.
35 Attend A School Function
Whether it’s for your child or someone else’s, school functions are a great
way to meet people. Kids need all the support they can get for their football
games, plays and concerts, and attending them will help keep you young.
36 Shop For A Car
Even if your not in the market for a new car, comparison shopping at car
dealerships will not only make you a better informed consumer when you are ready
to buy a car, it could be the way to meet your mate. Visit as many dealerships
as you have time for, and shop in the evenings as well as on weekends or during
the daytime. Stay alert for an opportunity to approach someone who attracts you
and ask for their opinion or advice about any cars they might be considering.
37 Visit The Beach
Even if you don’t meet anyone, a day at the beach is always a treat. There
are so many things you can do. Sunbathe, swim, body surf, jog, walk, build a
sand castle, join in a volleyball game, play catch, fly a kite, just sit and
relax – the list is endless. And, because it is so relaxing, people seem to be
naturally friendly on the beach.
38 Join Your High School Or College Alumni Association
As a member of your alumni association, you’ll be notified of homecoming
activities and other alumni get-togethers. When you attend these events, not
only will you have an opportunity to get reacquainted with people from your
graduating class; you’ll meet people form other classes as well.
39 Volunteer For A Po0litical Campaign
Working on a political campaign is a great way to have fun while you support
a candidate or a cause you believe in. Whether you volunteer at the local,
state, or national level, you’ll be exposed to hundreds of new people who will
have the same political beliefs you do. One of those people might be your
perfect Partner.
40 Be A Coach
Volunteer to be a coach and you can participate in your favorite sport.
Contribute to your community, and meet a lot of people in the process. Besides
the players on the tea, you’ll get to know their friends and family when they
come to watch the games.

Whether you need support in handling an illness, an addiction, or a loss,
there is probably a support group for you. Many of these groups have weekly
meetings, as well as regional conferences several times a year. I can't think of
a nicer way to meet someone than in a supportive, encouraging environment.
42 Go To A Flea Market, Antique Show, Or Other Large Show
Flea markets. Antique shows, home shows, outdoor recreation shows or other
large exhibitions where people display their merchandise will put you in the
middle of thousands of people. As you browse and barter your way from booth to
booth, you'll meet a variety of people. One of whom might be your mate.
43 Scope Out The Building Where You work
Although you may not want to date a co-worker, if you work in a large office
building there are probably lots of people outside your company that could be
your potential mate. Look in the directory in the lobby and learn who else
shares space with you. Watch to see who comes out of what office. Learn a little
bit about the other businesses so if you happen to run into someone from another
company, you know enough about that company to strike up a conversation.
44 Have A Home Improvement Party
If your house needs to be painted, your garden needs to be planted, or you
need a deck built, have a home improvement party. You provide the food and
drinks and your friends provide the labor. Invite as many as your friends as
possible, and ask them to bring as many friends as they can. You'll get a lot of

I believe blind dates are getting a bum rap! I'm convinced that if someone
were to conduct a survey, it would be proven that at least as many blind dates

When you need your car serviced or repaired, don't just drop it off at the
dealer. Take advantage of the comfortable furnished waiting rooms available at
most car dealerships and wait while th ey work on your car. You can write
letters, balance your checkbook, catch up on your reading, or just watch TV
while you wait, but don't forget to make friends with anyone interesting who is
waiting with you.
47 Join A Choral Group
People who sing are lucky. They can be part of a chorus or choir and meet
like-minded people who love getting together to make music. There are lots of
opportunities to participate in a choral group, whether it's in a church choir,
a community chorus, or your civic light opera.
48 Go Golfing
Golf is a great way to meet people. That's why business people, doctors, and
other professionals make sure a game of golf is included in their weekly
schedule. They know they will be spending four hours or more with the people
they golf with, and that provides a lot of time for establishing a relationship.
49 Join A Singles Club
There are many, many kinds of clubs open to singles only. Outdoor and sports
clubs such as the Sierra Club have special groups just for singles, there are
clubs for single parents only, there are singles clubs for professionals, there
are singles groups sponsored by churches, there are single clubs for people with
recreational vehicles, and there are dance clubs for singles.
There are a couple of different ways you can approach the idea of joining a
singles club. You can join one because it will give you an opportunity to engage
in an activity you particularly enjoy with other singles, or you can join one
you think will put you in contact with a large number of singles of the opposite
sex.
50 Mix Business With Pleasure
Service clubs, such as the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions, and
Elks exist in almost every community and are a good way to meet people. As you
work with other members to sponsor charity events, mixers, and educational
workshops you will have an excellent opportunity to meet other businessmen and
women. Remember, It's always better to become involved than to simple attend
meetings or mixers. Your contact will be more intense and the chance of a
lasting relationship will increase when you sit on a committee, man a booth, or
help set up or tear down an event.
51 Learn Ten Magic Words
The best way to meet your mate is to say these ten words to everyone you meet
- your friends, co-workers, doctor, dentist, barber, hairdresser, minister,
boss, landlord, tenant, instructor, realtor, banker, stockbroker, housekeeper,
travel agent - anyone who knows you even casually. I've shared these ten magic
words with many, many singles, and the result has been many, many lasting
relationships.
What are they? "You must know someone who would be perfect for me."
Although people may know your single, they don't necessarily know that your
searching for a mate, and it would never occur to them to fix you up. When you
let them know your looking, they mentally go down a list of people they know who
would be a good match for you.
